Getting here is easy, whether you come by car or public transport
The basics
We’re located within the grounds of Kinneil House in Polmont (not to be confused with Kinneil House in Bo’ness, which is 10 minute away, so make sure you’ve got the right one!). Look for the entrance with stone gateposts and a ‘Kinneil House’ sign.
- You can find our location using what3words ///castle.couches.wacky (https://w3w.co/castle.couches.wacky).
- The most reliable way to get to us is to search for ‘Heart of Scotland Holidays’ on Google Maps (https://maps.app.goo.gl/gYjjsV3eWVpShbK76).
- If you’re using Apple Maps, please either use what3words instead of the postcode, or turn it off as you leave the motorway and follow the appropriate directions below, for the last few minutes, because Apple Maps likes to dump people in a housing estate a couple of miles away!
- The site postcode is FK2 0SJ, which should bring you right to us on most satnavs (but not on Apple Maps).
- If you’re using an older satnav, try FK2 0QS, which will usually take you to one of the roads that joins the one we’re on.
Finding the entrance
The entrance is easy to miss the first time, so it helps to know what you’re looking for: the driveway sits between two stone gateposts, which are set back from the road. There’s a sign saying ‘Kinneil House’ to the right of them. You won’t see the lodges from the road – they’re out of sight until you come up the driveway, park, and walk through into the walled garden.
When you’re looking for the entrance, it’s set back between a small block of flats and the bridge over the M9 motorway. If you’re coming down the hill, you’ll first pass the vet clinic on your right and we’re shortly after that on the left. If you’re coming up the hill, you’ll drive over the motorway bridge just before you come to our driveway on your right.

Parking and arrival
The car park is on the wide gravel area in front of the main building, and we ask that you park nose/tail in towards the grass.
The lodges are in the walled garden beyond there, and it takes about a minute to walk to them (the distance is no more than about 80 metres to the furthest lodge).
It may be possible for you to drive right up to your lodge to unload , depending on the condition of the grass. Please let us know if you’d like to be able to do this. If you do take your car onto the grass, please return it to the parking area after unloading, and drive carefully while in the garden, keeping watch for children and pets.

Getting here by car
We’re just a few minutes from the M9 (junction 4 or 5), with straightforward access from Edinburgh, Glasgow, and Stirling.
- Leave the M9 at Junction 4 and take the third exit at the roundabout, signposted towards Polmont, Laurieston, A803
- At the next roundabout, take the second exit to stay on the A803
- Follow the road into Polmont, then take the second road on the right (Kirk Entry Bo’ness Road), signposted for the Inchyra Grange Hotel
- Continue down the hill, passing Harvey Avenue, Orchard Grove, and the Polmont Vet Clinic on your right.
- Our entrance is on the left shortly after this, between big stone gateposts. It’s after a small block of flats, and before the motorway bridge.
- Leave the M8 at Junction 4 and take the first exit onto the A801, signposted for Bathgate, Armadale, Falkirk, and M9
- Stay on the A801 through three roundabouts, following signs for Linlithgow, Falkirk and M9
- At the traffic lights, carry straight on (don’t follow the road round to the right)
- At the next roundabout, take the third exit, to stay on the A801, signposted M9, Grangemouth, Falkirk, and Polmont
- That road runs almost completely straight to another roundabout, where you take the 1st exit. This is the same exit as you take in step 1 of the instructions for Edinburgh, above, so from here you can follow those instructions
- Leave the M9 at Junction 5 and turn right at the traffic lights, signposted for Bo’ness & Kinneil Railway, among other places
- At the roundabout, take the first exist onto the A905, signposted for Grangemouth
- At the end of the short dual carriageway, take the second exit from the roundabout, signposted Bo’ness A905 and Inchyra Grange Hotel
- Take the first road on your right, signposted for Polmont and the Inchyra Grange Hotel
- Follow that road up the hill and round a couple of bends
- After passing the Polmont Parish Church on your right, you’ll cross a bridge over the motorway, and our driveway is then immediately after the bridge on your right, just before a small block of flats
Coming by public transport
Train:
Polmont Station is around a 15-20 minute walk away, or a short taxi ride, on the main Edinburgh-Glasgow and Edinburgh-Stirling lines. There are multiple trains per hour in both directions, so there’s no need to worry too much about the timetable.
Bus:
Polmont is on the bus route between Edinburgh and Falkirk, and we are only about a five minute walk downhill from the bus stop.
If you’re unsure at any point, please feel free to get in touch. We’re always happy to help you to plan your journey, or indeed to help guide you in if you have any difficulty finding us.
