Bringing Your Pet

Taking animals away with you can add all sorts of complexity to a trip. Our pet-friendly lodges are set up to make your stay feel easy rather than complicated, whether that means a space designed specifically for them, or simply somewhere that works well for a range of guests.

Some lodges are purpose-built for particular animals, while others offer flexible options for any pet, or a completely pet-free space. This page will help you find the right lodge for your needs.

Travelling with cats

Many cats find it difficult to adapt to unfamiliar surroundings. The Cat Cabin has been designed to facilitate the natural behaviours that help them feel safe and secure:

  • Height and vertical space improve confidence, so there’s climbing shelves, walkways, and high resting places
  • Scratching posts for scratching and stretching
  • Defined areas for eating, resting, and toileting
  • The lodge is kept dog-free to minimise frightening scents

There’s also features for your peace of mind:

  • No hidden gaps where a cat can disappear or get out of reach
  • Screened area for a litter tray, to keep it tucked away
  • Double-door entry and adjustable window latches to prevent escapes
  • Floors are cleaned with veterinary disinfectant between stays
  • An F10 disinfectant fogging treatment can be carried out before arrival, on request, for sensitive, older, or immune-compromised pets, or for breeding households who want a bit of extra reassurance

Some guests like to take their cats round the garden on a lead, but most feline guests stay inside the lodge.

Travelling with Dogs

Travelling with dogs is usually a bit more straightforward than travelling with cats, but the right setup still makes a difference. Our ‘Kennel’ lodge is specifically designed for people travelling with dogs:

  • Private, fenced garden area means you can let your dogs go in and out as needed
  • Particularly helpful for early mornings, or overnight routines in puppies and elderly dogs
  • No cats allowed in this unit, to minimise strange smells for nervous dogs
  • Grooming kit and paw-washer included

We also have three other lodges that welcome dogs without being specifically designed for them. If you don’t need the enclosed garden area and want a different style of lodge, one of these might suit you.

All our lodges have access to the beautiful shared garden, and the surrounding area also offers good options for walks, from short strolls to longer routes.

Every lodge includes practical touches, like an umbrella and torch, which are useful for evening or wet-weather walks.

Bringing both cats and dogs, or just fancy something different?

If you’re travelling with both, or just want to try something different to the species-specific units, take a look at one of our other pet-friendly lodges. These are not designed for one specific type of pet, and instead welcome all pets. These are:

If you’re unsure, it’s always worth checking with us – we know small variations can make a difference and are happy to discuss the needs of your individual animal (and you, of course).

What’s provided

You don’t need to bring everything with you. Depending on the type of pet, we provide:

  • Beds, bowls, and blankets
  • Towels for drying off
  • Toys and welcome treats
  • Practical extras like poo bags for dogs

The Cat Cabin and Kennel also include additional, species-specific items designed for how those animals behave. Full details are included in your welcome information and in our lodge guide.

Find a stay that works For you

The aim isn’t just to allow pets – it’s to make staying with them feel straightforward and enjoyable.

If you’re unsure which lodge would best suit you and your pets, you’re always welcome to ask.
