One of the advantages of staying in central Scotland is just how much is going on throughout the year. From major concerts and festivals to sporting events, seasonal celebrations, and specialist shows, many of Scotland’s best-known venues and event spaces are within easy reach from here.
That means you can spend the day or evening at an event, then come back to somewhere quieter and more comfortable at the end of it, without needing to stay in the middle of a busy city.
We’re particularly convenient for events in Edinburgh, Glasgow, Falkirk, Stirling, and the surrounding area, with good road links and nearby rail connections making it straightforward to get around.
Festivals, concerts, & seasonal events
Throughout the year, central Scotland hosts everything from international festivals and arena concerts to Christmas markets, outdoor cinema, fireworks displays, and large-scale family events.
Edinburgh’s summer events, particularly the world-famous Festival Fringe and Military Tattoo, bring thousands to the city each August. The best-known event in the Highland Showground at Ingleston is the Royal Highland Show, but it also regularly hosts exhibitions, concerts, and touring events, as do venues like Murrayfield Stadium, the OVO Hydro, and Falkirk Stadium.
In winter, Christmas markets and seasonal light trails in Edinburgh and Glasgow draw visitors from across the country, while summer weekends often bring outdoor shows, cultural festivals, and community events to parks and historic venues across the region.
Staying outside the busiest city centres often makes these trips much easier, especially during peak event periods, when accommodation prices and parking can become difficult.
Live sport, shows, & spectator events
Whether you’re heading to a concert, a race weekend, a sporting fixture, or an air display, there are plenty of major venues within a comfortable journey time.
Knockhill Racing Circuit is around half an hour away by car, making us a practical base for major race weekends, when nearby accommodation is often limited.
The OVO Hydro, Murrayfield, and other large venues in Edinburgh and Glasgow are easily reached for evening events. For these, our proximity to a train station on the main Edinburgh-Glasgow line is particularly useful, avoiding the seemingly endless queues to get out of the carparks.
Attractions like the Ayr Festival of Flight, ice hockey in Edinburgh and Dunfermline, football, and touring productions offer plenty of additional options throughout the year.
The biggest advantage of the site is the flexibility it offers: enjoy the atmosphere of a big event, then return to somewhere quieter and more accessible at the end of the day. Many guests coming to attend an event end up turning their stay into a holiday instead of just an event trip.
Smaller events, specialist shows, & unusual days out
Sometimes the most memorable and enjoyable events are not the big, famous ones, but those that are a bit different.
Staying in this part of Scotland brings you close to a huge range of smaller and more unusual experiences happening throughout the year, from model railway exhibitions and heritage transport events, to cat and dog shows, local festivals, and historic re-enactments.
Our pet-friendly units are especially useful for those attending shows in the local area. Our Cat Cabin is one of the very few (if not the only) holiday lets specifically set up to cater for owners travelling to cat shows, and we often have dog owners staying for shows at Ingleston or various other venues nearby.
We’ve also had several members of brass bands stay in order to take part in concerts and events with the Bo’ness & Carriden Band, the Bathgate Band, or other local groups.
Some guests visit for hobbies and enthusiast events, while others simply enjoy discovering something unexpected during their stay. Our central location means it’s easy to combine these kinds of days out with time exploring elsewhere nearby.
Heritage railways & classic journeys
Scotland’s rail heritage still plays a visible part in many events and experiences across the country.
Special steam tours regularly cross iconic structures like the Forth Bridge and the Linlithgow Viaduct, while preserved railways and heritage transport events attract visitors throughout the year.
For railway enthusiasts, or simply anyone who enjoys scenic journeys, central Scotland makes a good base for exploring both historic lines and modern rail connections.

Our location makes it easy to reach many of central Scotland’s biggest venues and event spaces, while still having somewhere comfortable to return to afterwards, with free parking on site, flexible self-catering accommodation, and easy access to major road and rail routes.
Some guests spend a week or more out exploring. Others are here for a single event weekend. Either way, the site is designed to work as a practical, comfortable base for whatever kind of trip you want to have.
