The people behind Heart of Scotland Holidays
A small team keeps the site running: from guest arrivals and changeovers, to gardening, repairs, laundry, and all the other behind-the-scenes jobs that allow us to keep providing an excellent guest experience.
Guests may only meet a few of us during their stay, but the site is looked after by people who know it well and genuinely care about keeping it welcoming, practical, and comfortable to stay in.

Daily operations
Almost all guests will encounter Heather and Matt, who live on-site and run the place day-to-day. They’re the ones you’ll exchange messages with before you arrive, and they’ll usually be around to say hi and show you to your lodge when you get here.
Generally, Heather manages guest communications, bookings, arrivals, laundry, and the day-to-day running of the site, while Matt looks after the booking calendar and technical side of the business, alongside his work in the rail industry.
Between them, they handle most of the guest-facing side of the business. Because the site is small, you’ll be dealing directly with the people running it, and most guests will meet us in person at some point during their stay.
A family project
Heart of Scotland Holidays has always been a collaborative effort.
Heather’s parents are regularly involved behind-the-scenes, helping with maintenance, changeovers, problem-solving, and the countless practical jobs that come with caring for a holiday site alongside a historic building and its grounds. Guests sometimes meet them around the garden and they love to hear about the places guests have visited during their stay.
The business is also supported by other close family members, working quietly in the background on planning, maintenance, and operations.

The housekeeping team

The lodges are cared for by a small team of local housekeepers, who help with changeovers and getting things ready for guests.
Each works a handful of shifts per month alongside other jobs, family commitments, or retirement, and some describe their work here as their ‘therapy’ and say they miss the site when they’re away from it.
Because the team is small and consistent, the lodges are looked after by people who know the spaces well and notice when something needs attention.
Grounds & maintenance
The garden and shared outdoor spaces are looked after by Michelle, who works on site a few days each week, maintaining the planting, paths, and seasonal upkeep around the lodges. Her husband, Paul, often helps with larger outdoor tasks, from hedge-cutting to storm clear-up and heavier maintenance jobs.
The site is also supported by Nicky, who handles many of the practical repairs and maintenance issues that come with older buildings and busy holiday accommodation, from plumbing and electrics to the unexpected problems that inevitably crop up at the least convenient moment.

run by people who care
Because the site is small, guests usually deal directly with the people who actually know the lodges, the grounds, and how everything works.
If you have questions before booking, please do get in touch, and we’ll be happy to help.
